My Background
My first love has always been reading. I love sitting curled up with a good book in front of the fire. There is nothing like the magic found in a good story: stories are what makes life interesting. Stories are the best teachers for they give insights into the wonders of the human experience and existence.
That is why I wrote my own children’s book, The Little Witch of Wilmcote. I am lucky to know about this magical ancient place, nestled in what was once the old Forest of Arden, where ancient fairy tales and Shakespearean lore are treated with the care and love such stories deserve.
The Little Witch of Wilmcote is not my first publication: I have written a number of academic articles and chapters, based on the research conducted during my PhD in Education from the University of Warwick. I am also a fully qualified teacher, English lecturer, SEND governor (Secondary school) and education specialist with well over 15 years experience in the sector – which is why I am also developing a series of educational resources to accompany my children’s book.
Having worked in many different settings, I am passionate about making sure that education is accessible to all. Whatever age, whatever ability, everyone has the right to a good education. I also love sharing my wealth of knowledge with anyone who needs it. I enjoy developing courses, providing curriculum support for students with additional needs (SEND or gifted and talented), delivering staff training, conducting educational research and anything else education related! Being a teacher is more than just a vocation to me – it is my life – and I am always happy to help.
